Richard originally started working with Impact Pumps as the Wellcome Trust’s expert representative on our Research Steering Group. His invaluable advice has kept us sharply focused on the challenges facing smallholders, water service providers and communities around the world, and the sustainability of the water resources that they depend on.
Richard Carter has a distinguished career in Water and Sanitation spanning more than 40 years. Widely recognised as one of the world’s pre-eminent authorities in the sector, he has taught numerous WASH leaders, both at Cranfield University, where he was Professor of International Water Development, and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. He has held prominent positions including Chair of the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) from 2011-13 and Head of Technical Support at WaterAid from 2009-2012. Over his consultancy and academic career, he has provided expert advice to governments, water Foundations and policy makers through his consultancy Richard Carter & Associates Ltd.
